Putin says to sign retaliation against oil price ceiling Dec 26–27

MOSCOW, Dec 22 (PRIME) -- Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged on Thursday to sign a decree on retaliation against a ceiling on the prices for Russian oil on December 26–27.

"You know, I will sign the decree somewhere on Monday or Tuesday. Those are warning measures," Putin said.

According to the president, the price limit will not hurt the Russian economy or the fuel industry. "No damage to Russia individually, to the Russian economy, to the Russian fuel industry is seen. We sell at approximately the prices set as the ceiling," Putin said.

The president accused those "who are interested in Russian gas shipments to Europe only across Ukraine" of explosions on the Nord Streams pipelines and said that Russia was not taking part in a full-fledged investigation.

The official separately said that Russia will prioritize infrastructure building in 2023. He listed the Eastern railway polygon, the North–South Highway running from St. Petersburg to the Black Sea cities and the airports among the priorities.

Putin said he had scheduled an address to the Federation Council, parliament's supreme chamber, for the start of 2023.
